IMPROVING NETWORK SECURITY USING ELLIPTIC CURVE CRYPTOSYSTEM

Securing a network wired or wireless for network administrator has been a big challenges for network administrators in the present day of Internet usage. This project presents ECDSA Cryptosystem as a solution to the problem been faced by network administrators and Engineers. The Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) is the elliptic curve analogue of the Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) with the attractiveness that there is no sub exponential algorithm known to solve the elliptic...

Agrobacterium Tumefaciens as a Tool for Transformation.

Plant transformation mediated by Agrobacterium tumefaciens, a soil plant pathogenic bacterium, has become the most used method for the introduction of foreign genes into plant cells and the subsequent regeneration of transgenic plants. This review focuses on the host recognition and the process of gene transfer from Agrobacterium tumefaciens to plant cells which implies several essential steps.

FLORISTICS AND STRUCTURE OF FALLOW VEGETATION

Vegetation-environment (soil) was studied in fallow plots in Uyo, ranging from 0-year-old to 6-year-old. Systematicsampling method was used to sample both vegetation and soil. The parameters determined for vegetation included; Height,Frequency, Basal area and Crown cover for all species. The soil physical and chemical properties were also determined. Results obtained showed that there were eight (8) plant species in the 0-year old plot, 12 species in the 2-year old plot,20 species of plants in...

Employee record profiling system

Employees are the backbone of any company therefore their management plays a major role in deciding the success of an organization. Employees record profiling Software makes it easy for the employer to keep track of all records. This software allows the administrator to edit employees, add new employees, transfer/promote/terminate employees and also manage identity card. The present world is technology driven as it is employed by many fields in the performance of their operation. In the case ...

Characterization and corrosion behavior of selected steels in 3.5M Sodium Chloride (NaCl) Solution

This research investigated the corrosion behaviour of selected steels (low carbon, medium carbon and high carbon steels) in 3.5 molar sodium chloride (NaCl) solution. The selected steels were cut into smaller sizes, after which they were heat treated and immersed in the corrosive media (3.5M NaCl solution) for corrosion test investigation. The immersion test was setup for 60 days for the comparative study of the behaviour of the selected steels in the corrosive media. Metallography of the ste...

Comparative Studies on the Pedological Characteristics, Morphological Traits and Productivity Indices of Three Species of the Genus Ipomoea in Uyo Metropolis, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria

Comparative studies on the pedological characteristics, morphological traits and productivity indices of three species of the genus Ipomoea was done in Uyo metropolis, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Morphological parameters (leaf length, leaf width and leaf area index) and productivity indices (chlorophyll a, b carotenoids and Chlorophyll Concentration Index (CCI)) of these species were determined using standard methods. The results showed that amongst the three species studied Ipomoea mauritiana ...

The Role of Scientists Warning in Shifting Policy from Growth to Conservation Economy

We are pleased to see the three follow- up letters concerning our “World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A Second Notice” (Ripple et al. 2017). Each letter expresses a thoughtful, heartfelt response to our paper. We agree in how they describe the need to get more scientists into policymaking positions (Dror), to create a new global environmental ethic (Skubała), and to recognize economic growth as a major driver of environmental impacts (Pacheco et al.). The letters rais...

Regional Geoelectrical Survey Across Some Parts of Anambra and Niger Delta Basins, South-Eastern Nigeria.

A regional geoelectrical study was embarked upon covering some major towns within the Niger Delta and Anambra basin. Some of the towns include; Owerri, Umuahia, Ohafia, Aba, Umuosu, Ngwa, Mbaise, Okigwe, Lekwesi, etc. About 100 Vertical Electrical Sounding points were established along two long profiles running perpendicularly to each other at North-South and East-West directions covering a distance of about 110km in each traverse. The maximum electrode spread was 500metres, AB/2. The schlumb...

Application of Very Low Frequency- Electromagnetic (VLF-EM) Method to Map Fractures/Conductive Zones in Auchi South western Nigeria.

Geophysical survey involving very low frequency electromagnetic technique was applied to investigate possible geologic features like fractured / conductive zones in Auchi and its environs in Edo state, Southwestern Nigeria. The study area is located within latitudes 7o05’ N.to 7o10’N. and longitudes 6o11’E to 6o22’E The geologic Formations outcroping in the area are mainly Ajali and Nsukka. Three profiles were taken along the roads from Auchi to Igara, Auchi to Fugar and Auchi to Ulok...

WIRELESS ELECTRICITY

ABSTRACT Electric energy needs to be transported to the distribution lines through cords. One of the major issue in power transmission is the losses occurs during transmission and distribution process of electrical power due to the energy dissipation in the conductor and equipment used for transmission. As the demand increase day by day, the power generation and power loss are also increased. In addition, the cost of making electricity is harmful to the environment. Reducing transmission lo...

In vitro Assessment of Selected Antibiotics, Crude Extract of Dalbergia latifolia Leaf and Their Combination on MDR Salmonella enterica Strain.

Aims: To investigate the susceptibility pattern Salmonella enterica strains to selected antibiotics and extract of Dalbergia latifolia as well as their combinatory effect on (multi-drug resistant) MDR salmonella.  Place and Duration of Study: Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, Nigeria from October 2012-May 2013. Methodology: In this study, a total of 11 clinical isolates of Salmonella enterica strains were screened in vitro against five antibiotics (ampicillin, amoxycillin, chloramph...

Multidrug Resistant Salmonella enterica Strains in South Western Nigeria: Prevalence and Susceptibility to Ceftriaxone

Aims: To investigate the prevalence and susceptibility pattern Salmonella enterica strains to ceftriaxone in southwestern Nigeria. Place and Duration of Study: Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, Nigeria from November 2012-May 2013. Methodology: Isolates of Salmonella enterica were characterized by established standard cultural and biochemical tests and was screened in-vitro for their sensitivity to different antibiotics (ampicillin, amoxicillin, chloramphenicol, cotrimoxazole and ceft...

SORBITOL NEGATIVE ESCHERICHIA COLIIN WATER LEAF (Talinum triangulare)

A total number of 60 samples of water leaf were collected from different areas in Enugu Metropolis, these samples were inoculated and examined to detect the presence of sorbitol negative Escherichia coli 0157:H7. About 35(17.5%) samples out of the 50 samples inoculated were found to be sorbitol negative E-coli. From the result E-coli 0157:H7 is the predominant serotype accounting for 90% of all VTEC isolates.
